Some steering racks were supplied to Sebeco with a spring washer rather than the shim behind the cover plate. With the spring washer installed it is possible for the pinion shaft and bearing to move forward slightly when turning the wheel.
This can be felt as a slight knock through the steering wheel and occasionally a slight increase in steering effort in non EPAS (electronic power steering) cars. In EPAS cars the movement of the pinion shaft can not be felt directly but the rack still should be updated to remove the spring washer and fit the required shim or shims behind the cover plate. Whilst this is not a safety issue it can be disconcerting to the driver.
Please contact Sebeco for a shim kit if you have one of the steering racks effected (Steering rack# 00081411 - 00081430)
